Katrina no longer wants to be part of Bride Wars remake

Priyanka Chopra stays on in remake while Katrina makes an exit from film

Given the growing hostilities between Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif, it is highly unlikely that the two will co-star in the Bride Wars remake. What a pity considering, both actresses have great roles.

When the two actresses were approached for the film last year, they'd agreed to be part of it. At the time, they were merely rivals, who were indifferent towards each other. Enter Ranbir Kapoor. And suddenly they turned into natural born enemies.

Marking turf
Trouble started brewing a few months ago, when Priyanka Chopra was signed for Anjaani Anjaani with Ranbir Kapoor. At the time, he had just split from his long-time steady girlfriend Deepika Padukone. PC too was recovering after her fresh break-up from Shahid Kapoor. The duo were just beginning to warm towards each other, at the start of a two-month schedule in the US, when Katrina Kaif showed up to mark her territory.

There had been rumours of Kat-Ranbir all along. It was a generally accepted fact that she was the cause of his split from Deepika. But one never thought Salman Khan's girlfriend would openly hook up with another actor. Her presence by Ranbir's side in the US was a clear sign that this was serious. The message wasn't lost on Priyanka, who backed away graciously.

A matter of time
It was only a matter of time before news of Katrina's presence in NY reached Mumbai. This was troubling for Kat, who was answerable to Salman. She believed the outing of her secret rendezvous was PC's handiwork. She was heard cribbing about Piggy Chops to her friends and even threatened to confront her. Kat's rumblings reached the Desi Girl who was livid at the accusation.

Although no direct confrontation has happened, sources close to both actresses swear they hate each other. The result of this fallout is that now Katrina no longer wants to be part of the Bride Wars remake. Not just because it has her Enemy No 1 in it, but also because the film is being made under the banner of Rose Films, owned by one of PC's closest friends Shrishti Behl.

Katrina had this to say on being contacted: "All these films are on the discussion stage, so nothing to really say at the moment."

Kaif ne yeh phele bhi kiya hai
Last week, Kat also backed out of Anurag Basu's next when she heard that PC had been approached for a parallel role.
